How OhioHealthHelp.com got it's name
Naming a web site is harder than it looks. In fact many of the names I came up with were taken. This how it evolved:
Ohio is the geography as this is limited in focus to the state of Ohio as in where we live. If you live outside of Ohio it really is not of much interest.
Health is the focus of the site. This is about helping people get access to health care who are having problems due to being under insured, uninsured and confused.
Help is what it wants to offer and is what people are looking for when they come here.
Thus Ohio Health Help was the name or as you know it www.Ohiohealthhelp.com. To google this site use all three words Ohio Health Help and the word Dayton and it should pop right up.
It is not affiliated with the state of Ohio or any other governmental agency, business or non profit in any way. I live in Ohio, it is where I live. Pretty simple. Now you know the story behind the name.
Some real situations and solutions we have helped with include:
My son needs drug treatment do you know where he can get help? - Answer Christopher House through TCN, (they lived in Greene County.)
My cousins wife is have hallucinations and they have no insurance. They are afraid to go to the hospital because they can't pay the bill. - Answer HCAP program paid the hospital bill and hospitals will not turn anyone away at the ER.
I had a heart attack, I have no money the hospital has discharged me but I can't afford prescriptions. I don't know how I am going to pay my medicine. - Answer keep a list of the $4.00 drugs on when seeing the doctor. 1.Show it to the doctor so the doctor can see if those medicines will treat you effectively.2. change pharmacies (made a big difference) Kroger's, Walmart are cheaper than the chain pharmacies. 3. Sign up for the prescription assistance programs to get some name brand drugs for free. Result reduced a $360.00 a month prescription bill down to $12.00.
Kids need dental work, including oral surgery, they have no money how can they get their children taken care of? - Answer OSU school of dentistry dental clinic, in Columbus, where they handled very complicated dental problems along with some routine work. They went to OSU and the dental work performed included significant oral surgery and got it done at no out of pocket cost. OSU clinic sees people from anywhere in Ohio.
My sister is a recovered addict but still needs care, it is draining mom and dad, do we have any choices? - Answer yes, information on applying for social security disability, assistance with prescriptions and assistance with finding low cost medical care. Also Community based health programs in Warren County.
And the list goes on.
